This listing includes one Flying Eagle Cent dated between 1856-1858. James R. Snowden ordered about 1,000 1856 Flying Eagle Cents to be struck without official authorization. Many of these coins were given to politicians and other well connected people. In 1858 and 1859, more of these coins were restruck with original dyes. The Flying Eagle Cent can be divided in three main varieties. The first included the original pieces struck for Mint and government purposes in 1856 and early 1857. The second included the first restrikes of 1858 which were often times sold to collectors. The last of the variety included the questionable second restrikes of 1860.
